Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When looked up, says cylinder #5 high to low.  What does it mean?  How can it be fixed
without going to dealer?  Is it expensive?  MOM, bought car for my son a college student,
need help!!!.  Has a mechanic but still want to know.
With the second code, the trac ab light stays on and car makes a whining and roaring
sound.  We thought the rear need rebuilt or replace.  Is this related and how can this be
fix?  Son needs car, need help ASAP!!!
sound.

I have an idea about the whining and ABS light. It's likely that the axle bearing has failed on that wheel. Get underneath with a flash light and look at the backing plates - if it's saturated with Gear Oil, you're looking at an Axle, axle bearings and seals (don't do just one side) rear brakes (oil saturated), and possibly a wheel speed sensor. Your Mustang has the same differential as used in our Police Interceptors (Internally) and I probably change out axles and seals 4 times a month - every month (big fleet). Might be cheaper and faster to buy another diff from a salvage yard. Either way - hang on to your wallet.

The "Rear End" To get technical, the differential is the mechanism that transfers power from the drive shaft through a set of gears that power both rear wheels while allowing each wheel to rotate independently.
