Ignition and steering locked

Asked by Ccm37k2 Nov 17, 2016 at 07:13 PM about the 1984 Chrysler Le Baron Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought an 84 lebaron and the steering and ignition
won't unlock or turn, I've tried shaking and pulling
the wheel to unlock it but it looks like the ignition
needs replaced. I need to know how to disassemble
the steering to get to the ignition lock

Old ignition switches can do that. My 2002 Ford did that recently but I wiggled the steering wheel and key until it worked and it has not given me a problem since. Maybe this will help ------ http://www.xn-- lebaron-mnchen-osb.de/Lenksaule.pdf

I I lost my keys to the ignition how would I fix the ignition without breaking anything

I cannot get my steering to unlock because I lost the key how would I fix that without breaking everything

I just did one yesterday, I pulled the wheel to get to the int.lock pay very close attention as to how you have taken it apart. I took the lock apart to make a key for it. The year was a 1986, it took a Y152 key blank. The lock has pins. It would be easier to take a door lock out. And take it to a automotive locksmith to make a key from it. Cheaper than have them come to you.
