Won't stay running

Asked by zeraphean Oct 11, 2018 at 01:43 PM about the 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 87 chevy caprice classic. It has
gas in the tank good battery new starter
alternator and fuel pump. New soft lines
between the hard fuel lines and the carb was
rebuilt by a reputable mechanic. It won't turn
over without fuel in the carb or starting fluid
the dies off even if I floor it or give it gas
from the pedal what could be causing this
issue?

Taking it to a shop isn't possible since they no longer carry a reader old enough for the car. Spark has been checked and its all good. How ever I can see fuel coming from the sending unit out of the tank. Thru the soft lines is there a safe way to check the fuel lines for a clog?
