Asked by GuruYVHFY Mar 02, 2018 at 05:36 AM about the 1989 Cadillac DeVille Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What would cause the car to lose antifreeze?  And
the heat runs cold until the antifreeze is full.  Could
that be a thermostat

You need to find the leak and if no external leak is found then follow "tennisshoes'" advice above.

I agree with the first response as well. The water is leaking into your engine and out the exhaust.

This was happening in my 05 Escalade and it ended up being my water pump was going bad. As soon as I would full antifreeze, I had warm heat again. Qas going through a lot if antifreeze! No leaks. So I would reccomend checking water pump.
