Multiple electronics stop working at same time

Asked by M May 04, 2023 at 10:15 PM about the 1989 Buick Skyhawk Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Power Door Locks, Dome light and Radio all stopped working at once.  Is there
a fuse that controls all of these or is it something else?

Yes those all have fuses but they are each on separate circuits, so either more than one blown fuse, fuse link, wiring problems or even the ignition switch.

check wiring in the boot of the door jamb , 30 + years of opening and closing can wear them out

The power locks, dome light, and radio are all powered up all the time. The radio has two power circuits. One that's always powered up to save the clock and station presets and the other which is switched by the ignition switch. Since the other two accessories involved are always powered up I'd suspect a bad ground. If you have an aftermarket stereo I'd look there first. Also if you have an underhood fuse box check the larger fuses in there. Oftentimes these larger fuses feed power to multiple circuits in the fuse box that's inside of the vehicle. Hope that helps!
