Why does my 1985 Volv DL make a hissing sound when I apply the brakes

When braking my 1985 Volvo DL I can hear a hissing sound that sounds like air being released. Please advise?

There is a vacuum leak somewhere, it could be right in the brake assist booster, indicating that it is going bad. Should have a garage check it out as if it fails, braking would be extremely difficult.
