I have a 2003 ford escape and im wondering why it burned through two brand new starters. Can anyone help me out.

Do the starters just klick after a while.. or do they laterally smoke?

Yes at first I bought a Remy starter and it burned up after 30 minutes. I was thinking that I got a defected started so I upgraded to a Motorcraft starter. that one ran for two days and then I was on the highway and it started making loud noise and smelt like smoke. luckily I made it home but once I got home it didn’t want to start no more. Thank you and I appreciate your help

Are the starters posiably staying enguadged? They will make horrible noises untill they kick out. If not.. take off the accessory belts and see if all the pullys spin freely.

My 2008 Ford Escape AWD floor matts keep getting soaked. I thought I had fixed it by making sure the sunroof was closed properly, but it has continued. I have tried to figure out where this is coming from and finally after drying them out again I laid under the the vehicle and both on the drivers side in the middle of the front floor area and the passanger side there is a small hole about the size of a dine right in the middle. That would account for the water coming in after rain storms and such, but why would these two holes be there? Was there a drain area there with plugs and they are missing? Can I have a piece of metal welded over them? Don't know why they would be there. Doesn't seem to be a rust issue as it is frim all around these small holes. 7 Answers
