I can't get into my 2003 ford escape with the key or fob. Yesterday I had to get a jump. Will a dead battery even keep me from unlocking manually with the key? If so how do I get my hood open?

Even with a dead battery, you should still be able to separate the metal key from the fob, insert that key into the door and open it up manually. Then, pull the latch for the hood release...Voila!

Got AAA or ANY sort of Roadside Assistance available? They can slim jim the door open....Last Resort: Police officer can do the same thing (as long as you prove you're the owner).

Just a thought if the key has never been used in the door lock, the lock cylinder maybe stuck and need a spray of WD40 and carefully work the lock back and forth with the key till it moves freely.
I had the same problem. If your battery is completely dead the power locks will not operate...not even by turning the key. They are called power locks for a reason. I solved the problem by having the tow truck guy open the door by prying it open with a pump and manually pulling the door latch on the inside with the equivalent of a coat hanger. He then jump started the car. Once the car was running the locks worked again.
