I have 1998 740il what is the best type of antifreeze
to use 50/50 or straight antifreeze

50/50 unless you live in an extremely cold area. The bottle will have a chart that tells you what ratio to use for the temperature range you live in. Water cools better than anti-freeze so don't use more anti-freeze than you need.
