Could bad alternator cause no spark by

Got the pickup coil got it running now it acts like it wants to die and Boggs down could that be the alternator

    89 Bronco 5.8, was acting jerky and cutting off in idle or when I have it gas, but not always. Now it will crank, has spark, fuel pump cycles, but won't start at all. Ideas??
