Copper solenoid posts

The copper stud on the solenoid was stripped. I replaced it with a stud I
fabricated from a bolt from the clamp on a battery cable. It is steel, not copper.
It works fine. So what is the problem?

Someone may have said it won't work because copper is a better electrical conductor than steel. But in this case that bolt does not look like it's in a position to conduct electricity so it will be okay. Also, steel is stronger but it corrodes easily so if you use it on a battery terminal, you should coat it with grease to protect it.
