Direct bolt in limits you to another 22r, a 22re, or a 22rte. The 22re is simply an EFI 22r, the 22rte is a turbocharged 22re. The RE will show decent gas savings and a minor power bump, along with some increased reliability. You will need the 22re ECU, however.

I have wheels from a 1998 4runner that I would like to use on a 1984 Toyota 4X4 truck. The rear whewels are fine. On the front end of the truck the 98 wheels hit the steering components.
