Have an 89 camry 2.0 litre 4cyl. It's developed an intermittent starting problem.

. A couple times now, when I go to start it, it doesn't crank. The odd thing is, when I turn off the switch and remove the key, the radiator fans are still running, and there's still power to the dash. After a few minutes that cuts out and it's off. If I give it a few hours it will start again. Seems like some kind of short, but where would it be for that to happen?

So many years ago I had a 1991 Lexus ES250 which is actually a rebadged Toyota Camry (Toyota owns and makes Lexus). It had the same issue with the intermittent start, and the dash still being functional. There was a flaw in both the ignition switch and the starter solenoid. If it won't start, and you need it to in a pinch, simply tap the starter a few times (LIGHTLY) with a wreck or a small hammer. The car will start. The electrical issues with that Lexus cost me more money and time than I like to admit. The cars are the same. 1987-1991 Camry = 1990-1991 Lexus ES250. I would get her in to a reputable mechanic. Ask them if you can buy your own parts (and then get them at the junk yard for less than $75-$100) and have them swap em out. It will fix your problem. I hope this helps and best of luck!
