trade in value

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

i have a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
Duramax 6.6L Crew Cab LTZ. it has 73,000
miles on it, it's lifted 6" with 35x12.5 tires
and 20" rims. it has a tuner and exhaust on
it. how ideal is it if i wanted to trade it in for
a flat trade in a 2015 silverado 1500 with
23,000? the truck i want is marked for
42,000 dollars. i am just wondering if it's a
possibility to do a flat trade and if it is how
practical is it for me to ask for a flat trade?

Depends on the dealer, but most won't like all the custom mods, in fact those will hurt your trade-in value, if you've added a lot of money in modifications to your truck, you might be better off selling it to a buyer who'll give you more than any dealer would. If you're dealing with the private seller, then all you can do is make the offer and hope they like the lift kit, tuner, and 35's.

Returning it to stock may get you a better price. Then you could sell the aftermarket parts. Flat trades almost never happen.
