both low beams out, first the drivers side then the passenger side

Asked by gregelkslayer Jan 15, 2016 at 07:03 PM about the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with Premium and Nav

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

all fuses good, the bulbs only have 2 connections, car is just out of warranty. I
am a refrigeration mechanic and understand troubleshooting but I do not
understand how I get a high and low beam with bulbs that have only 2
electrical connections. The VW dealer is about worthless to help, they just
want money to look at it. Wont even tell me which fuses operate the lights. I
am not going to pay the $100 plus to do a simple fix. I want to learn about
these lights and fix it.

Had same problem at one time thought something was wrong and it just turned out the low beam bulbs were burnt out just replaced bulbs and that took care of problem.

Its not the bulbs, been down that road already. VW uses the same bulb for high and low beams, the high beam work

Yes I know the low and high beam are in the same bulb but that is just what was wrong when I had that problem. Sorry I could not be of more help.
