my 2013 toyota corolla will not move when in drive

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i drove my car across the street to my sons school and when I attempted to leave the parking lot it wouldn't move in any gear. I couldn't even turn the steering wheel. After I let the car run for a while I got enough power to drive it home and park it. Now when I crank it I can't get it to move when in any gear. I think its the alternator.... Any suggestions

It's not the alternator. Are there any lights lit up on the instrument cluster? Check engine light? It does sounds transmission or throttle related. When the car is running and in gear and it doesn't move, do the rpms go up and the engine just revs? You should be able to turn the steering wheel back and forth when this happens. You might have something else going on. I suggest you have it towed to a local garage so they can look it over.
