Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm trying to reconnect new battery in 2013 BMW 528i xdrive but I get nothing
except alarm and turn signals, no other action from the car.  It did say
transmission malfunction.  I realize cars are computers but what am i doing
wrong?

FYI: BMW requires the battery be registered to the car to properly charge. A BMW dealer or independent shop will have the required equipment to perform the registering aka programming. But just replacing it, it should start and run to get you to the garage. You might have a short.

Thanks for the direction. No actual problems that I was aware of. It was sitting for a bit. Car is 2013 and battery was original. I bought new battery and I'm trying to avoid a tow which will be expensive for giggles. It's locked down sorta so I can't shift to neutral. Nothing happens.

Sorry I can't help further. With the car sitting for some time, there are too many things it can be. Try purchasing AAA and or roadside assistance before the tow, so it will pay for the tow and any future issues. Better than not have any coverage down the line.
