Got a dodge dakota manual v6 and the engine will begin to chug when I shift gears., even with the pedal pressed all the way down it still chugs. Any ideas?

Check the distributor cap and rotor, mine had a similar issue, also get some oxygen sensor safe carb and throttle body cleaner and spray the gunk off inside the throttle body if still having trouble post again I have more ideas
