Water pump

Asked by Micheal Mar 16, 2018 at 07:48 PM about the 2013 Buick LaCrosse Leather FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my water pump replaced on a 2013 Buick Lacrosse.
After the repair my car hasn't  ran right. After taking it back I
was told that it's not the timing chain it's the guide for the
timing chain. I would think if it was bad would that be seen
when replacing the water pump? I think they missed
something up while working on my car. Going to get a
second opinion. Can the timing chain  guide get missed up
when changing the water pump.

The timing chain guide is inside the engine and a cover must be removed to get to it. I don't know why it would get messed up while replacing the water pump unless the components associated with timing chain were removed.

I suspect the mechanic unplugged or damage the cam sensor. The car will run but performance and gas mileage is bad when the cam sensor is not working correctly. The cam sensor is in the area where the water pump is located.
