1999 Dodge Durango won't stay started!

Asked by Michael Jan 16, 2019 at 07:41 PM about the 1999 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes, few and far between, my Durango doesn't stay started. I have to
restart with foot on gas pedal and drive with both feet for a few minutes. Then
it's OK! The weather makes no difference. Sometimes at stop signs or red lights
I can hear and see, (tac), the engine, slightly moaning up and down.

I have a 2000 Durango 4.7 liter V8. I had the same issue for roughly two years, then to correct it I replaced the idle air control valve and the throttle position sensor. Both are inexpensive and easy to replace. I never had the issues again.
