why would my oil pressure drop while braking

while braking my oil pressure drops to zero and the check engine light comes on. it doesnt
affect the actual running ability of the truck. what could be the cause?

Bad oil sending unit,or what tennisshoe said,check the oil pump.

when mine did this, it was the oil pump. the sending unit was more erratic.
