I was driving back to the man camp yesterday and the rear wheel(s) started wobbling. The problem seemed to be worse between 45mph and 55mph. Today the problem 'fixed itself' until I braked on a hill

Make sure your lug nuts are tight. Did you pop off a wheel balance weight? Have the wheele bearing checked. If this is a construction truck, it takes more beating that most urban trucks. Check and make sure the tires are good and not starting tire tread separation. By wobbling, do you mean vibration or is the tire/rim moving? It really sounds like it's the tire itself coming apart. Check it quickly so you don't end up in a ditch or into a front end of a vehicle while driving.
