2013 impala brake lights

when i press my brake pedal when car is off the brake lights will not light
up..when i start the car the brake lights will work when brake is pressed..is this
normal or is it developing a problem

Do you mean when the key is completely off? Nothing in the vehicle will work if the key is in the off position. If the key is in accessory or run, the lights should work, and if they don't, that's when you know you have an issue.

yes when car is completely off my other vehicles the lights will work when key is off so i didnt know if this was just specific to the impala..we have had that car for years and have never noticed it...i know as long as they work when car is on i should be ok i was just making sure since i never noticesd it before
