How to check ac evaporator leaks

A shop that specializes in automotive A/C repairs will have a leak detector (a "sniffer") that can tell if and where your system is leaking 134a. Evaporators are hard to replace so you want to be right. Condensers will leak if you see road stone damage. Most leaks seem to occur at the compressor.

Also, there is often an oily spot when the leak occurs. This is refrigerant oil, and it won't evaporate like the refrigerant gas 134a does. Take a quick look where ever you can. Might only be a hose. Good Luck.
