The best one that you can afford and change regularly. I have a 1999 Ford Powerstroke with 963,000 miles. I change the oil every 5000 miles, and I use a mineral based oil. If I was using a synthetic, I might be able to stretch it out to about every 7000 miles.

The factory almost certainly recommends synthetic oil. Almost all manufacturers do now.
