When you describe the ignition will not turn forward, does that mean like the steering column has it locked out from turning? Any time I've had that problem it is because the wheel is turned too sharp to one side. I'm sure this is not your problem, but have you had any problems with your steering column? If your key turns but nothing happens...I had a similar problem where my transmission shifter cable needed replacement. The shifter was in park, but the transmission was not. I hope something here helps.
