You might have a problem with the socket for the brake lights. I'll assume you already checked fuses and turn signal/hazards work. While it might be a bad brake switch at the pedal, it's more likely a bad socket. Swap it for one of the other lights (turn signal or drive lights) and see if the problem follows the socket. You can also try just cleaning the sockets of oxidation and bending the little tabs outward a bit too, and see if that fixes the problem.
