Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I have a 2013 BMX X3 which other than some scratches on corner of front bumper is in perfect condition.  I am looking to trade it in.  The question is, do I get scratches fixed or will I lose a lot more money trading it in as is and letting the dealer fix them.  Thanks!!

Trading it to a dealer? The dealer won't care- they will gladly fix it- after they take your money which looks good on paper, but in reality you are just giving your car away because they are "discounting" the already over-inflated price on the new car- so keep your money in your pocket, and if they mention the scratches, just understand that every word that comes out of their mouths is designed to deplete your bank account unnecessarily-

BMW or not it is still a used car in wat sounds like good condition. It is entitled to a few millage marks as long as they are only minor. Remember the dealer will determan what the cost of the profit he / she will make on the car and the net cost of the paint repairs. The other thing you could do is get an estimate from a paintless dent removal service and hold that in your back pocket while negotating with dealer. See what they say and if they complain about it say "what if the car did not have the scratches what would it be worth?" You can decide from there.
