Brake fluid warning indicator on 13 Hyundai Elantra Coupe

Asked by alexmb Dec 26, 2014 at 02:35 PM about the 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the rear brake pads on my 2013 hyundai elantra coupe.  The brake fluid
warning indicator had been on prior to the brake pad replacement, and was still on
afterwards, so I checked the fluid level.  I couldn't see where the fluid level is in the
reservoir, so I added a little bit of DOT3 fluid to check if it was empty.  After about 30
minutes, the fluid I added still hasn't cleared the filter - which tells me that the reservoir is
completely full.

Would the brake fluid warning indicator illuminate if the reservoir was filled past the Max
line?

Could anything else (besides low fluid level or parking brake engaged) cause this light to
illuminate?

You are missing your break wear sensors when they replaced your brakes. Its a little cable.
