Rise and fall in temperate gauge

Asked by Suckafish Oct 28, 2016 at 04:29 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 1LZ FWD

This morning as i got about 5min into my
drive the temp gauge slowly started to
rise.. Then it slowly drops back down..
Then repeats itself.. Did this for about 30
mins...Then it stops and stays steady for a
the remain 3 1/2 hours of my drive.. Then
im within 3 min if my home and it starts to
do it again.. Now this has never happened
before until today.. I had an oil change
done on Wednesday  not saying this has
anything to do with it but i thought i should
mention that.. What could be the problem
and how do i fix it and how much would u
say it would cost??

I would check the coolant level. If it is OK then change out the thermostat. This also could be just the cooling fans cycling.
