2013 dart sxt calls for 5w40 full synthetic motor oil.Mobil1 sells 0w40 full synthetic wich i have,the motor is the 1.4l turbo,is it alright to use this oil in this car?

No use the 5w40.
Is there a reason why?Would"nt the european car formula 0w40 be just faster flowing when it"s cold?

The "w" in motor oil stands for winter. The first number in the oil classification refers to a cold weather viscosity. The lower this number is, the less viscous your oil will be at low temperatures. For example, a 5W- motor oil will flow better at lower temperatures than a 15W- motor oil. The higher number, following the “w” refers to hot weather viscosity, or how fluid your oil is at hot temperatures. The higher the number, the thicker the oil at a specified temperature.

"the less Viscosity. 5w is barely acceptable unless its in cooler climate regions with cool summers, if your in warmer climate you can bump the 5w up to a higher number. O would be good for year around cold like north pole cold and negative temp for long periods.

How cold is it in your area, I personally use 10w30 Mobil 1full synthetic in my V-6 and larger engines. I live in AL. The 0w40 is made for cold starts, as -40 degrees Fahrenheit, If this is your temp range then by all means use it.

After temps get above freezing, I would consider using 5w oil.

I decided to read some reviews on those using 0w40 ero Mobil 1 and there is mixed reviews on it some love it and some say it got gunky. If you decide to use it just check on it often and look at the oil yourself when its changed and if it looks good and you feel good about it then use it. I consider Mobile 1 to be one of the best or the very best and it is synthetic so hardening, Caking up and burning to inside the engine is much less of a concern if it was not synthetic I would not go to 0w roil unless the temps were negative 0.
The 0w40 oil will be fine. The "0" before the "w" has no impact on the weight of the oil at operating temperature. The "0" is the cold flow characteristic and a "0" grade oil will flow better when cold.
