Ford Explorer 2013

Asked by kmartmallo Sep 10, 2019 at 02:03 PM about the 2013 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2013 Ford Explorer that makes a
squealing/chirping noise while driving first
thing in the morning. It’s very loud and
distinctive and it can be a chirp here and
there or almost a rotational squealing sound
if that makes sense. It usually goes away in
first couple of minutes. Does not make noise
when stopped.

Sounds like the belt. Use a squirt bottle and spray a pulley with a little water early in the morning. If it goes away, change the belt. If the noise is not present on startup, when the vehicle is not rolling, it's not the belt.
