Oil change then started smoking

Asked by GuruVFB1Y Sep 14, 2018 at 02:01 PM about the 2013 Ford Escape SEL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had oil changed right after I noticed car smoking at
starting, it had never smoked before. Took it back to
the garage they found they had over filled it by a lot,
so they did another oil change and after 500 miles it
still smokes bad on start up for about 15 seconds.
Is this a sign of something bad happened?

I would have a mechanic check it out. Maybe there is an oil leak onto the exhaust which can be fixed. The oil change shop should pay for it and any repairs for damage caused by the over fill.
