4 wheel sound like something is draggin on the ground when engaged

When i switch my 02 durango into 4 wheel it sound like
something is dragging or skipping on the street. There is
nothing there and it still works but it sounds like something
is about to fall apart

If the sound is when you have it in 4WD and making sharp turns on dry pavement this is normal. Normal as in ruining your transfer case.

No thats not it either. Ill Be driving forward and it sound like metal skipping on something
