Water leak inside car after heavy rain

Asked by Joann_Marie Feb 06, 2019 at 11:50 AM about the 2012 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: General

Puddle of water on my rear left
floorboard after a rain, a very heavy
rain. I was rear ended two years ago
and since then noticed a musty smell
once or twice but with the recent
heavy rains there’s a consistent
puddle of water.

To help pinpoint where the water is getting in, you can buy color gel packs at any auto parts store, and place them around the exterior door and window seals, and spray them with water. The packs are all different colors, so depending which color shows up in the interior, find the corresponding color tab to find your leak. Then it's just a matter or either replacing that weatherstripping or caulking it with RTV silicon.
