How do I lock the car with the key fob inside

Asked by Dottie Jun 13, 2015 at 09:14 PM about the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander ES

Question type: General

I want to release the key from the key fob and take the key swimming while locking the
fob inside the car.  The car will not lock with the fob in the vehicle.  Is there any way
around this?

Lock the car while inside, then open driver door, remove physical key from keyfob, close driver door and lock driver door with physical key. The car will be all locked, but you will need to use the physical key to unlock driver door then use power lock switch to unlock all other doors. It's late response and you may have figured it out by now...
