My service center says to replace my 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L air conditioner compressor and core they need to remove the dashboard.  Why would that be necessary?

That is where one of the two are located, you have the condenser(outside in front of the radiator and evaporator(inside the heater assembly) for cores. Seems odd that they need to replace that one as most warranties want the condenser replaced unless there is an internal problem.
