2003 Durango SXT 4x4 rear caliper hoses

I have this 03 Durango SXT 4x4 in need of rear caliper hoses. Truck is 100% factory. I buy the new short rubber brake hoses coming out of the rear calipers. The replacement hoses are what you’d expect. Hole on the block end for the bolt and brass washer going into the caliper and the open threaded opposite end. I pull the rear wheels off and the original short rubber caliper hose goes into some funky brass compression style crimp fitting attaching the short rubber caliper hose to the steel brake line on the axle tube. What kinda crap set up is this. Never seen this on any other vehicle. What’s the fix?
