Understanding Voltmeter Reading

Asked by kenrico May 19, 2014 at 03:40 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Work Truck 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On a given day the voltmeter may read 13v, 15v and 14v regardless of how many
electrical accessories may be turned on and regardless of the number of hours since
starting the vehicle (when the voltmeter typically reads 15v).  I was wondering if this
fluctuation is normal.

as long as it doesn't go below 12v and trigger the warning light you are ok. The dash gauges arn't very accurate anyway
