2012 equinox usb no files found messge

Asked by kfleming704 Aug 12, 2020 at 09:23 AM about the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox 2LT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been using the usb to play pandora
through my phone. Recently this no files
found message appeared and it wont let me
get to pandora. I can hear the music in the
background but as soon as i touch the ok or
turn the volume up it kicks me off. Its not my
phone because it works in my 2011 silverado
& my wifes 2018 terrain. I have an iphone 7s.
Ive tried unhooking the battery terminal three
different times. Ive also tried different power
cords including the original one from apple.

What gives? It was working fine for months &
all of the sudden now its not.

I’m getting the exact same thing. Apple care hasn’t been able to help either. I found a kinda work around to allow the volume to be changed... After the ‘no files found’ screen comes up, put it in reverse so the camera comes up. It’ll change back to the previous source. Use the control on the steering wheel to switch back to phone then take car out of reverse. You should be able to at least change the volume now. It doesn’t fix it, and I wish someone could figure out what is messed up, but it’s better than nothing for now.

Actually, I think I fixed it... shortly after posting this I had gone out to the car and pulled out the actual USB hub from inside the center console. I checked all the connections and put it back in. Everything works now just like it did before. I’m thinking the wires were loose on the backside of the hub. It’s not held in by any screws or anything, I just kinda pried it gently from the sides. Try that, it may fix it. If not, I suggest replacing that hub. I think it’s fairly cheap on amazon.
