i have a 2003 dodge dakota sxt 2wd v6 124000 miles just replaced the thermostat and upper radiator hose and now its overheating and when i turned it off it made a popping sound

you need to bleed the air out of the cooling system, run it with the radiator cap off untill thermostat opens, monitering the coolant level, the upper hose will get hot, and with the heater on, it'll will blow hot when the t-stat opens, then top it off and put the cap back on
