2003 Dakota 4.7 heating issue

My engine warms up, temp gauge is in normal operating position but warm air
does not come through any of the cab settings. could it be a thermostat or the
hot/cold air selector? Also, yesterday while idling the temp gauge pegged to hot
then went back to normal almost immediately when I began driving. It was only
idling around 5 minutes.

Thanks Ed. I'll check that out under the dash. I hope I dont have to change out the whole heat/cold selection module.
