Can I use E-10 in my new 2012 SV Maxima?

Asked by okc May 17, 2012 at 01:40 PM about the 2012 Nissan Maxima SV

Question type: General

I've run into issues of not being able to find 100% gas recently on a trip to Texas, so to get home I used E-10. I also have had problems where I live.
Is there a real issue or?

We're in the North East and we have to buy gas with 10% Ethanol - no problems at all with your 2012 Maxima THANKS to variable valve timing by Nissan and the VQ V6 engine. Sadly, the Federal Government has caved into pressure by the Corn Industry Lobby (which was something President Obama promised to get rid of - another broken promise by our President) so we're forced to buy Ethanol "tainted gasoline" , an inferior fuel which contains 35% less energy per unit than gasoline. The EPA has been dodging the question, and does not care that it's proven Ethanol will destroy an ICE in due time. But seriously, have confidence with the Maxima - it's a great car!

Not an issue at all because all new cars are design to run on Ethanol/Gasoline mix. Furthermore. the engine will compensate for variations in gasoline formulation by varying the ignition timing which will prevent knock at a slight loss of performance.

How do I get fore-warned if the key fob battery is low ? My car would not start this morning, there was no warning on dashboard. Just a message stating: No Key." However, the key was in my pocket. I placed it in the FOB-PORTAL and the lights on each side flashed and the "KEY-ICON" pointing down towards portal came on dashboard. After a few minutes, the car started. I bought a new battery for $ 5.99 (for 2) and installed it. My question....I never saw the "KEY-ICON" that states battery is low, (depicted in manual),with percentage of charge left on the keyless ignition fob. Why ? And how do I get this information from the instruction panel in my vehicle ? (2012 NISSAN MAXIMA)
