why do I have gas fumes when turning off car

I have a very strong gas fume when the car is turned off.

Maybe your purge valve is sticking open. It's what draws fuel vapor from gas tank to allow engine to burn it when running, but when engine shuts off it should close, if not you might get a smell of raw gas. Just one of a few possible causes for a gas smell that aren't fast food related.
