I have a 2004 Doge Stratus and when I put it in drive and press the gas. It will not go anywhere the RPM wont even go up. But when I put the car in park or neutral the car rpms will go all the way up

sounds like your going into gear due to the fact its putting a load on the engine and not getting rpm out of it....it could be a couple of things...// either the park rod that engages the paring pawl is not releasing or the pin broken in the diff and is jamb against the case .....or the torque converter is seized up ....// is the vehicle on level ground with the key on and the engine off shift the trany to neutral and see if you can roll it ...//. if it rolls then it maybe internal to the trany or the torque converter....// also does it move in reverse at all??
