Engine And Transmission Swap

Asked by DediSant Sep 28, 2017 at 04:36 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer XLS V6 4WD

Question type: General

Can I swap/replace engine and transmission of my Ford Explorer (V6 4.0L)
2004 model with the used engine and transmission of Ford Explorer (V6 3.5L)
2013 model?

Hell no, not a chance. Too many mis-matched components not to mention computer controls.

The cost to do so would exceed the cost of a 2013 Explorer. Just buy another car and be done with it.

Will a 2010 Ford Explorer v8 work in a 2005 Ford Explorer v8 and would the passenger doors be the same

Your Answer:

Explorer
