DTE

Asked by Maribel Dec 24, 2018 at 07:37 AM about the 2004 Dodge Durango Limited 4WD

Question type: General

I know what DTE means. However, for example, I'll be stuck
in traffic and at a complete stop. To prevent my foot from
cramping I'll put the car in park. I noticed that my DTE
instantly drops. From 305 to 244 easily. It goes down
maybe every 30 seconds. Ive noticed it happen again when
I was warming up my car.
There are no leaks,  no engine light,  and nothing appears
on a code reader.

The DTE is an ongoing calculation. When your vehicle is running and not moving it is STILL using fuel. This will, in effect, lower your fuel mileage and affect the DTE reading.
