Cylinders 2 4 6 8 missing

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab with the 4.7 V8 engine.  I have been having the check
engine light flashing with an obvious miss very frequently but the local mechanic could never figure
out exactly why.  Last evening it felt like it was missing more than usual so this morning we put it
back on the computer and it was showing multiple sever misses on cylinders 2, 4, 6, & 8.  There are
no misses on the other cylinders.  The mechanic isn't sure what is causing it.  He thinks that the cam
slipped on the right side of the engine and wants to start tearing it apart.  Any suggestions?

Did you ever replace the plugs and wires/coils in the motor? I hear dakota V8's always have probs tho.

i think its spark plugs there must be too much carbon on them to work or the point is worn out for these cylinders
