2012 scion tc manual 6sp, had noise when in neutral and pressing clutch, then releasing. No shifting issues ever, just noise as previously mentioned. Had clutch replaced with factory OEM kit, including pressure plate (which is LUK not OEM) car is getting stuck in reverse and rattling/squealing sound when trying to drive it. Has also jumped out of 3rd gear when accelerating uphill. Fluid was changed in trans and replaced with heavier weight and Lucas gear oil was added. Unable to drive car and shop where it was replaced refuses to do anything about it!!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car had noise when in neutral and pressing clutch, then releasing.  No
shifting issues ever, just noise as previously mentioned. Was told it was
clutch release bearing, the car has 106k miles so went ahead and had clutch
replaced with factory OEM kit, including pressure plate (which is LUK not
OEM) car is getting stuck in reverse and rattling/squealing sound when trying
to drive it (noise @ higher RPM's). Has  also jumped out of 3rd gear when
accelerating uphill.  Fluid was changed in trans and replaced with heavier
weight and Lucas gear oil was added. Unable to drive car and shop where it
was replaced refuses to do anything about it!!

Bad throw out bearing,or clutch not installed properly.

That's what I'm hoping as well. Have taken it to another shop and told the mechanic this exact info and he's saying it's the Transmission.. $3100 repair.. I requested he remove clutch and inspect thoroughly first and rule out bad install. It's like he doesn't want to take the time to do that..time to take it somewhere else i'm figuring.

Guruxfblx, the only way to check the relay is ohm it with a meter, would have to know what car/truck you have to tell you more.

Then it will be a bad install, nothing wrong with the transmission, find a reputable mechanic and he will prove that it was installed inproperly.

What was the problem ? Im kinda having the same issue replaced the clutch now it does not goes thru the gears properly and stays stuck in gear.... only way to get it out of gear is to put it in 6th and bring back to neutral position and thats if if comes to a full stop

Not the throw out bearing. It's a bearing on the input shaft. My 2011 failed at 199k, my 2012 is at 128k and getting bad. Sucks I love my tC but it's time to move on, again. Toyota fail.

Same thing is happening with my 2014 scion tc with 150k miles. My mechanic replaced the clutch and throwout bearing, but noise continued. Turns out it’s the input shaft bearing in the transmission. I’m now looking into a new transmission.
