ATF light Subaru Impreza 2012/2013

Asked by LArcSubaru Jan 15, 2019 at 04:39 PM about the 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Summer 2017, took two trips. Southern California to Arizona & Southern
California to Utah. It was HOT.
ATF Light came on on 3 different occasions going up grades and RPM's
seemed high. Drove slower/lower RPM (under the speed limit) until the light
went off.
Took vehicle to Subaru Carlsbad, CA dealership but no codes came up nor did
a visual inspection come back with anything. "Sorry, can't help you"
Fast Forward to now. The car runs fine around town but I do not trust it to go
on a long trip... through the desert.
Subaru Corp had no other solution other than to take it back to dealer.  I did
find a previous post that related this problem to the valve body. What are other
problems that it could be?

I have to disagree Ed. 7 years old plenty old enough for transmission problems. A fluid change might help as would adding a transmission cooler.
